Vacationing in Cordova Bay in Vancouver Island
I recently went to Cordova Bay in Vancouver Island, to visit some family of mine who live there. I had not been since I was young, so this was definitely a new and exciting experience for me. I was staying with my older sister so did not have to arrange a hotel or anything like that, but we did have to find a great restaurant to eat at on my first evening there. We decided upon a place called “The Beach House Restaurant”, which is right on Cordova Bay and has an amazing view to enjoy as you eat.
Although quite a varied menu, I decided on the fish and chips which were absolutely delicious. The fish was so succulent and I could tell it was of a high quality, I can’t complain about the chips either. I had a chocolate hazelnut bar for dessert and it was nothing like I had ever had before, the melt in my mouth was to die for!
My sister enjoyed her meal too and there was just a great atmosphere in the place. The service was amazing and we also enjoyed a few drinks before going for a walk along the beach, which was right outside. The Beach House Restaurant is definitely the place to be if you want to eat somewhere that isn’t too far from the bay itself.
The rest of my vacation in Cordova Bay in Vancouver Island was awesome, I think as an American – it was such a novelty to me and one that I thoroughly enjoyed. Although it is a really calm and tranquil place, there is so much to soak up so it is perfect for tourists looking to explore a new location. Checking out the sandy beach in the daytime was great, luckily the weather was really hot during my stay at Vancouver so there was lots of sunbathing to be done.
A dip in the crystal clear water was also necessary but I also got some things done that might be considered more “productive”. I am quite an active person back home and my sister told me that we just HAD TO do the Lochside Regional Trail. It was the perfect height, not too challenging but still enough to get a good workout and see some amazing sights along the way. We even passed through the Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary, which was a really sweet place to see.
On my final day in Cordova Bay, we went to the British Columbia Aviation Museum with the extended family and I found the outing to be really interesting. There were so many different kinds of aircraft’s on display that we wandered around in awe for hours. This is a must see place for anybody interested in this kind of history.
In fact, Vancouver Island in general is a must-see place for everyone young and old. With quaint cafes, amazing views, bustling shopping centers and an awesome welcoming from the locals – it is the kind of vacation spot that you will not forget in a hurry.
